Located in southern Italy, the Amalfi coast is so beautiful it’s almost hard to believe this place exists. No wonder it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will join the group to discover it in one day departing from Rome.
You will meet a tour leader at Roma Termini railway station and travel by high-speed train heading for Salerno. From there you will reach the city of Amalfi by ferry. It’s the best way to move from place to place and get the best views of the coast.
Amalfi is located in a ravine surrounded by daunting cliffs. During medieval towns, it was the capital of the Maritime Republic known as the Duchy of Amalfi. You will have free time to explore the town, its public squares, shops, and the cathedral.
Afterwards, board another ferry and reach the most popular place on the Amalfi Coast, Positano. It’s full of colored buildings, shops, and sandy beaches. The Marina Grande beach is at the base of Positano and is the most recognized beach in town. Other frequented beaches are Fornillo Beach and Arienzo Beach.
After spending approximately 2.5 hs hours in Positano, you will return to Salerno by boat and head for the railway station. You will arrive in Rome around 20:30 hours.
Tip Greca: Drink a spritz in one of the bars in front of San Andres Apótol Cathedral.
