CRETAN GASTRONOMIC TOUR FROM CHANIA

Embark on a journey through the unique culinary paths of Cretan culture with this must-do excursion, designed to offer an intimate look at the secrets of the traditional Cretan way of living.

We will start by picking you up from your hotel or the nearest meeting point and then head to the village of Ano Vouves to visit the oldest olive tree in the world. This ancient tree, proclaimed as a natural monument, is estimated to be between 3,000 and 5,000 years old and still bears fruit. Originally a wild olive, it was domesticated by humans and now boasts a circumference of 12.5 meters and a diameter of 4.6 meters.

Our next stop will be a traditional bakery with a wood oven, where you will witness the making of typical Cretan breads and sweets. This visit provides a fascinating insight into the preparation of traditional Cretan savories like rusks and bread.

We will then visit an olive grove to examine the olive trees and learn about the Cretan honey-making process. Following this, we will head to a traditional, award-winning cheese factory. If it is not the cheese-making period, we will be able to tour the factory; otherwise, our guide will explain the cheese-making procedure before we enjoy a superior tasting experience.

Next on our itinerary is Pnevmatikakis Winery, a family-run winery in Kissamos with extensive experience and a significant contribution to Cretan wine-making. Here, you will learn about the wine-making traditions of Crete and taste various locally made and awarded wines from the winery's collection, accompanied by local delicacies. The winery also offers a specially crafted platter and drinks for children.

Throughout the tour, you will indulge in a tasting of original Cretan delicacies, including olive oil, tomatoes, olives, cheese, and honey, providing you with a first-class taste of Cretan nature.

After a day of exploration and learning, we will visit a nearby beach for two hours of relaxation. You can swim, sunbathe, or simply enjoy the beautiful seaside landscape.
