Jersah and Ajloun Private Tour from Amman

You will begin the private tour with a pickup from your hotel in Amman, and travel by comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle to Jerash.

You will walk among the temples, theaters, squares, roads and streets with original columns, all within the city walls. Therein, remains of settlements dating back to the Bronze Age, Iron Age, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Umayyad and Abbasid periods have been found, indicating human occupation at this site for more than 2,500 years. A local English-speaking guide will be included for your classic 2-hour tour of this Decapolis Roman city. This ancient city was one of the most prosperous in the Roman Empire, covered in sand for centuries until its remains were discovered in 1806. You'll head to the ancient city gate and walk through the well-preserved ruins as your guide tells you stories about the city in its heyday. You will see its arches, theaters and its elegant street with columns. You will take photos of the impressive Oval Plaza, the Temples of Zeus and Artemis, and the intriguing egg-shaped republic square framed by standing columns.

After having explored Jerash, you will continue to the 12th century Ajloun Castle, built in the time of Saladin to defend against the Crusader armies. You'll head inside this semi-untouched hill fortress and walk through the corridors and stairwells. You will see the holes used by the invaders and admire the amazing views of the lush hills of the Jordan Valley from the towers.

After seeing Ajloun Castle, you'll rejoin your vehicle and relax on your long drive back to Amman, ending with a hotel drop-off.
