    Excursion Itinerary: Tour to the catacombs of san gennaro

    At the appointed time, we will meet in the centre of Naples to start our journey back in time through the descent into one of the most mysterious places of the city: the Catacombs of San Gennaro. Our guide will show us the link between faith, the city and its patron saint.

    During the visit, we will travel back in time and explore one of the most important catacombs in southern Italy. We will marvel at the great underground basilicas and the precious frescoes more than two millennia old.

    We will discover the millenary history hidden in the subsoil of Naples and admire the artistic heritage of the catacombs, ranging from existing pagan artefacts from the 2nd century to Byzantine paintings from the 9th and 10th centuries.

    Greca Tip: San Gennaro is known for his miracle of blood. This event, which occurs three times a year in the city's cathedral, solidifies the liquefied blood of the patron saint of Naples.
