Accommodation
Excursion Itinerary: Murano, burano, and torcello from venice

With this excursion, you will have the opportunity to visit three Venetian wonders in a single day: the islands of Murano, Burano, and Torcello, famous not only for their arts and crafts but also for their picturesque landscape.

You will sail between the islands of San Giorgio Maggiore, San Servolo, San Lazzaro degli Armeni, and the Sant'Elena Gardens until you reach Murano, divided into nine islets crossed by a wide channel.

Murano is known around the world for its artisan glass-blowing industry. Here you will have a glass-blowing demonstration in the factory, where this wonder is produced and where you can discover the magic of this traditional product.

A long and lively tradition dating back to 1291, when glass craftsmen moved their kilns here from the old town. Murano is the city of glass: during the 15th and 16th centuries, it was the main center of glass in Europe. After the visit, we will have some free time to visit the various glass shops or discover Murano at your peace.

Your next stop will be the island of Burano, one of the most beautiful islands in the entire lagoon: it is a miniature Venice where all the houses are painted in bright colors.

Burano is famous not only for its lace work, an art that has been carried out since the 16th century when it was considered the most refined and famous in Europe but also for the picturesque fishermen's houses painted in a thousand vibrant colors.

The last destination, but not the least important, will be Torcello, where you can admire the wonderful Church of Santa Fosca. Torcello is the center of the first Venetian civilization founded between the 5th and 6th centuries, when the island became a flourishing center, full of palaces and churches.

Today the island preserves archaeological evidence of its glorious past, such as the wonderful Byzantine Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and the Church of Santa Fosca with a delightful portico and a striking Byzantine interior. There, you will also have some free time to discover this historic island.

Greca Tip: Try the "Frittura di Pesce" in Burano, a popular seafood dish consisting of various types of fried fish and shellfish.
