    At the appointed time, we will meet our guide to explore the historical centre of Catania. He will give us information and share interesting notions about the city's history We will see all the most important monuments of Catania, as well as some of the most beautiful squares in Italy, such as piazza Stesicoro, with the ruins of a Roman amphitheatre, and piazza Vincenzo Bellini.

    We will walk along picturesque streets and boulevards such as via dei Crociferi, famous for its churches, via Etnea (Catania's main artery, connecting the beautiful piazza del Duomo with Tondo Gioeni) and via Antonino di San Giuliano. Last but not least, we will have the opportunity to get a taste of local life at the fish market, the busiest and oldest market in Sicily.

    Tip Greca: The city of Catania was founded in the 8th century B.C. by Greek settlers from Chalcis, on the island of Euboea. The date of its foundation can be put at around 729 BC.
